In every democratic society the president has various means to listen to the citizens that have elected him either directly or through their representatives in parliament. In Lebanon, the general public does not have such a chance and the president should not only listen to the skewed opinions of the various sectarian leaders who are mostly governed by their own interests and foreign influences that are mainly against Lebanese goals.

This forum intends to allow every citizen to talk directly to the president without intermediaries. We hope that this will give the president the opportunity to listen to the hopes and aspirations of the people and their dreams of a better future.

Dear Mr. President. I am from Russia. I am very concerned about the situation in Lebanon. I mean the relations between Israel and Lebanon. I love your beautiful country and worried about its future. I think that the smuggling of weapons could lead to a new confrontation with Israel. This war will not make anyone a winner. It's only pain and suffering of the people! I very much hope that the new government to stop illegal arms shipments. The smuggling of weapons to Hezbollah - a direct threat to Lebanon and its sovereignty. Only the President and the government can solve this issue. And do not give Israel a pretext for military action against Lebanon. I sincerely wish peace and prosperity to your beautiful country.

A message to Lebanon from a Lebanese in Exile The President and the First Lady and all our Lebanese politicians On the issue of citizenship, I would like to say: My great sisters, the women citizens of Lebanon: I am sure you will get there and you will get what you want although the road seems long and hard. Abi Nasr has committed political suicide. I don’t think there is a woman in Lebanon who will vote for him or for his likes. I think you have already taught Abi Nasr and many other politicians a big lesson. You have taught them that you have political power, and should anyone continue to ignore your rights, they will get the same treatment of Abi Nasr. I think that the things most Lebanese politicians worry about are their chairs and reputation. Abi Nasr is the example. His reputation is damaged and his chair is shaken. Look! He is even suggesting a green card for you! As bad as this card is, it is still something about Abi Nasr not being able to face your successful campaign. Here, I would like to invite all decent Lebanese politicians to come forward and make their stance on women’s rights known. I also would like to direclty address all Lebanese church leaders. Did not Jesus Christ liberate people, why have you not acted according to his teachings yet? Why have you not voiced your views in support of all Lebanese women’s right to equality? The virgin Mary was a female, and she is dignified and looked up at by both Muslims and Christians alike. I would like to talk to Muslim leaders and say. Why have you not come forward yet? The child of a Jewish woman is a Jew regardless of the father. Why have you not come forward and supported the Lebanese women yet? Is she not your mother and sister who brings your children up to defend Lebanon. Is she not the woman who gave her children away to fight the Zionists? Is she not the resisting woman who you depend on in the strife against injsutice. Probably, you know more than anybody else how hard the Lebanese woman has sacrificed. Could you please release her so that she feels free and valued among her people. To the Syrian Social Nationalist party, I would like to say. Where are you on the issue of equality to Lebanese women. I am really disappointed that I have not heard your views yet. Your party’s rhetoric is normally loud and clear on other issues. Could you please scream on behalf of our Lebanese mothers? To General Aoun, I would like to say to you. You have experinced exile in France and you know how hard it is to be in exile. You probably experienced first hand what the Lebanese women married to foreigners are experiencing. Exile, being away from the homeland, being away from family and motherland. General Aoun: Could you please advise Abi Nasr that Lebanese women are people with feelings and deserved to be treated as such. Walid Beik Junblatt. Where are you when we need you? One day you are talking about Edward Said and admiring the enlightenment of his thoughts and another day we don’t hear you saying anything about Lebanese women’s rights. Mr Junblatt, you can contribute to our mother’s cause, I’m quite sure about that. Mr Nabih Berri, the Parliament Speaker. Speak for our mothers. A talentend parliamentanian like you who is trained and deeply rooted in law knows what needs to be done. You know what the injustice created by law means to Lebanese mothers. I hope you will act using your important skills and position. Mr Chamoun, where are you? Haven’t heard your voice on this issue of our dear mothers. You know what freedom and its absence mean. Mr Boutros Harb, what are you waiting for? You are a lawyer and silence is not very health in this matter. There people who are being split of their mother’s heart to live abroad as the politicians in their country are only giving them a deaf ear. We need your help. Mr Marwan Hamade, you know what equality and fraternity mean. Could we hear your eloquent voice please? Mr Gaegae. You rhetoric is of very high standard. Could you direct some of it to support your sisters the Lebanese women? Sayyid Nasrallah, the Hizb is never silent on injustices and deprivation. Could the Hizb not pust the women’s rights a bit forward? Lebanese women have paid the lives of their children to protect Lebanon. Is it too much to reward them with the right for their children to become Lebanese. I am sure you see the justice of this cause in your heart and mind. I will be grateful if the Hizb did all it can to pust this forward. Mr Hariri, are you going to help our mothers to have their rights? You are a politician that we count on. I don’t think you have anything bad in you. You want the best for Lebanon. Could you please include the Lebanese mothers in the best that you want? It is impossible to name everybody here. Could all the Lebanese politicians please listen to what the women are asking for? They only want their children and husbands to be Lebanese like them. Mr Baroud, you have recently backed off a bit on the matter. Can I ask you to go back to lobbying all the other politicians to pass this law of equality? Mr and Mrs Soleiman, the excellencies, last but not least. Your age is one of hope to all the Lebanese. Let our hopes come true. Let our dreams and our mothers dreams come true. Try to wipe the tears off our mothers’ eyes and off our own. You are doing a lot but you can do much more. You have a lot of moral influence. Once speech from where you are could save Lebanese families married to foreigners years of suffering and injustice. Do it for the love of God and the tears of our mothers. Somebody else comes to my mind who could be of great influence in this matter Fairouz and Ziad. Could you please go out tomorrow and campaign for the rights of my mother and myself? I, the writer of these lines, the daughter of a Lebanese woman married to a foreigner count on you all. I am full of hope that you will read this and do something about it.

Mother's day is nearly here again excellencies! Would it be possible to grant Lebanese mothers their right to confer citizenzhip to their children? I am amazed at the proposal of Niamtallah Abi Nasr. I am also amazed at at the deafening silence regarding his racist and fascist views. Mr President can I share with you our feelings and views on the matter of women's rights to equality in citizenship? I invite all Lebanese women to throw their high heeled shoes on ABI NASR and his likes. Throw your shoes at these rotten politicians who deny you your rights. Lebanese women, mothers, sisters and brothers, stand up for yoursleves, you are not the only only ones who have been denied their rights. Women in Europe have suffered before you to be granted their rights. They did not get their rights without rebelling. Your excellencies, I hope that you stand with the women's campaign for citizenship as Lebanon's democratic reputation and yours is at stake here. Thanks Pascal

How difficult is it to get the MOI traffic police to respect the traffic laws, and to make sure that no-abiding citizens are properly reprimanded? Is it possible that government officials drive along the same roads that I do and not get civically offended by habitual violations? Lebanon has a huge debt: Why waste money on painting highway divider lines or installing traffic signals and signs when the majority of drivers do not give a wink for? Can the Presidency force the citizens to get on the track that leads to civilization?

Dear Mr. President! I really believe that you mean well, and that you want the best for our Country! Do you think that President Obama or President sarkosy waste their days meeting with former deputies or former ministers or even every one with some titles who wants to be on TV with them? Lebanon, needs you more than ever to start the reforms, to make sure that Lebanon will be the Country of our dreams! our economy is based on other than tourism and our Citizens willbe proud to live decently in their Country. You have so many tasks in front of you that 3 volumes will not be enough to fill, so please stop meeting all these people who just want to get a picture for their Ego, and please focus on Lebanon, I know that you will be a great President despite this past wasted year! God Bless you!
